These projects are subject to pre-defined rules regulating the basic conditions of any individual case, e.g. the composition and preparation of the substrate(s) used for incubation, the boxes employed for this purpose, and the incubation temperature which has to be maintained by the individual participiants. |
||||
| The project treaties, on the other hand, are obligatory in a general context, and they must be respected by those people who want to join a project. | ||||
| As far as the Rhacodactylus Project is concerned, we decided (because of experiences gained repeatedly before) to choose Perlite as an incubation substrate. This matter is mixed with water in a 2:1 ratio (weight, not volume!). | ||||
| As soon as the water has been completely absorbed by the substrate, the latter ist filled into customary cricket boxes, leaving a void space approx. 2 cm high . If the walls lack perforations, the lid needs not be liftted to warrant the necessary gas exchange (otherwise, it must be lifted once weekly). | ||||
| The incubator developed by the EXOTARIUM company is used as the standard device (at least in the scope of this project) because it disposes of a digital temperature control, and normal and maximal values may be determined in a way which allows the user to achieve and maintain a constant optimal temperature. | ||||
